The St. Louis Cardinals selected East Carolina outfielder Alec Burleson with the 70th overall pick in the second round in the 2020 MLB draft on Thursday. Burleson was one of the top two-way stars in the college ranks this year, but teams think he's a better prospect as a hitter than as a pitcher. His pretty left-handed swing allows him to make line-drive contact, but as a result, there are questions about his home run power at the next level. Burleson lacks speed and range as a position player and will need to hit for power to reach the big leagues.
