Lamar Jackson To Run Less In 2019
6 years agoBaltimore Ravens owner Steve Bisciotti said that quarterback Lamar Jackson will decrease his number of rushes in his second full season. In his rookie year, Jackson set the NFL record for quarterbacks by rushing 147 times, moving past Bobby Douglass, who had 141 attempts in 1972. "I think you'll be pleasantly surprised that Lamar is not going to be running 20 times a game," Bisciotti said. "That's not what this offense is about." The No. 32 overall pick last year averaged 17 rushing attempts a game, but the Baltimore offense spent the offseason tailoring the offense to Jackson's unique skill set. Jackson is working on his passing accuracy and the Ravens added two speedy rookie receivers to help him out in 2019. Still, the ground game will be Baltimore's bread and butter. Jackson will have QB1 upside in the right matchups, but until he shows us he can throw the ball successfully and regularly, fantasy owners should only consider him a QB2 with upside.
