Kyler Murray 2020 Outlook: This Year's Lamar Jackson
5 years agoThis is no sleight to Mr. Jackson, he should still be a star in his own right going forward. Kyler Murray is just cut from a similar cloth. He too is an athlete playing quarterback and his arm talent is undoubtedly superior from a tools perspective. Murray was selected first overall last season for a reason and he displayed flashes of brilliance throughout the year. Unfortunately, the talent around him for most of the season was not on-par. Murray was dealing with a dusty David Johnson along with a receiving corps that prominently featured the likes of Trent Sherfield and Damiere Byrd. Murray will now head into his second year with coach Kliff Kingsbury and a brand-new WR1 in DeAndre Hopkins to lead a skill corps of Larry Fitzgerald, Christian Kirk, and Kenyan Drake. Fitzgerald may be up there in age but he can still offer solid value as a volume receiver in the short and intermediate field. Murray and the offense as a whole will benefit from Hopkins' presence and the team's furthered continuity. It is very much in the realm of possibility that he finishes as the overall QB1 due to his value from running and throwing and should be reached for a round or even two earlier than his ADP in drafts.
