Kalen Ballage 2018 Player Outlook: Rookie Looks To Carve Out Passing-Down Role
6 years agoThe Miami Dolphins spent a fourth-round pick on Arizona State running back Kalen Ballage, adding him to a crowded backfield that already includes Kenyan Drake and Frank Gore. Ballage is an interesting prospect, boasting a 96th percentile speed score on Player Profiler. Despite his impressive speed and athleticism for a 228-pound running back, he never served as the lead runner at Arizona State, splitting carries with lesser talents at the college level. The Dolphins have stated that they believe Ballage can be a three-down back but he will probably have to earn his way onto the field as a pass-catcher. Ballage is more interesting in dynasty leagues than he is in redraft formats. He will probably go undrafted in 18-round redraft leagues but he's worth monitoring as a waiver add if he shows well early in the season.
