Justin Turner Won't Be Punished For COVID-19 Incident
4 years agoLos Angeles Dodgers third baseman Justin Turner will not be disciplined by MLB commissioner Rob Manfred for returning to the field to celebrate the World Series win with his team after testing positive for COVID-19. "We all have made mistakes as we navigated these unprecedented challenges and have tried to learn from those mistakes so they are not repeated," Manfred wrote. "With this in mind, I am closing this matter by applauding Justin for accepting responsibility, apologizing and making a commitment to set a positive example going forward." Turner apologized for his actions, but Manfred said that teammates "actively encouraged" Turner to leave isolation and return to the field to celebrate. The veteran third baseman had a 1.066 OPS in the World Series and helped bring Los Angeles their first championship in 32 years.
