Julio Rodriguez Sitting In Game 1
2 years agoSeattle Mariners rookie outfielder Julio Rodriguez is not in the starting lineup for Game 1 of a doubleheader against the Detroit Tigers on Tuesday. Rodriguez returned from the injured list on Monday and didn't miss a beat, going 3-for-4 with a double in the loss to Detroit. The M's will give him a little rest, but the 21-year-old All-Star could return to the nightcap. With J-Rod sitting out in Game 1, Jarred Kelenic is getting the start in center field and is batting sixth against Tigers left-hander Eduardo Rodriguez. Kelenic does have three home runs and five RBI in 11 games since rejoining the Mariners on Sept. 22, but he's also hitting just .200 (8-for-40) with 11 strikeouts.
