Josh Palmer 2022 NFL Player Outlook – “Handcuff” WR In Top Offense
2 years agoEvery preseason, there's much debate about who the top handcuff running backs are for fantasy football, but the wide receiver position is often ignored in this discussion. Los Angeles Chargers' second-year pass-catcher Josh Palmer is one of the top "handcuff" wide receivers heading into the 2022 season. The fourth-round pick caught 33 passes for 353 yards and four touchdowns in his rookie campaign. Those aren't staggering figures that resulted in high-end fantasy success, but it's worth noting Mike Williams and Keenan Allen missed just two combined games. Additionally, all signs point toward Palmer getting the nod over Jaylen Guyton. If Williams or Allen suffer minor or major injuries this season and Palmer is thrust into a starting role, the upside here is undeniable in the Justin Herbert offense. Herbert and the Chargers' offense finished second in passing attempts, second in passing yards, third in pace of play, and third in passing touchdowns. It doesn't take an expert to know the Chargers love to air it out, and any pass-catcher playing significant snaps have real fantasy intrigue. Palmer is a solid bench stash who could pay substantial dividends at his WR66 ADP.
