Josh Naylor To Begin Rehab Assignment Tuesday
1 year agoCleveland Guardians first baseman Josh Naylor (oblique) is set to begin a minor-league rehab assignment with Double-A Akron on Tuesday, according to the team. Naylor has been out since Aug. 1 with a strained right oblique, missing 24 games. Without the left-handed slugger, Cleveland has slugged just .355 with 18 home runs. Naylor's 79 RBI still lead the team, and he ranked third in the American League in batting at the time of his injury. The 26-year-old could be back with the club by this weekend, barring a setback on his rehab assignment, and he should be stashed in all fantasy formats. In his absence, Kole Calhoun has been the club's primary designated hitter. Before his injury, Naylor was slashing a strong .306/.346/.500 with an .846 OPS, 15 home runs, 79 RBI, six stolen bases and 41 runs scored in 360 at-bats.
