Jordan Hicks Doing Some Light Throwing
3 years agoSt. Louis Cardinals relief pitcher Jordan Hicks (elbow) is quietly working his way back and has been doing light throwing as part of his program. Hicks has had no setbacks and said, "I see light at the end of the tunnel for sure, but I know I have to be patient. There's still a lot of work to do." The hard-throwing right-hander has been on the shelf since early May due to pain in his surgically repaired right elbow, and he's still not a lock to return this season. The 24-year-old had allowed six earned runs on five hits while walking 10 and striking out 10 in 10 innings of work before going on the injured list in 2021. Hicks has the potential to be a lights-out ninth-inning reliever for the Cards with his triple-digit heater, but he still has a long ways to go in order to return, and despite a blown save on Tuesday night, Alex Reyes has been excellent in the closing role for St. Louis.
