Joc Pederson Looks To Rebound In 2018
7 years agoJoc Pederson had a terrible 2017. He was demoted to the minors in August and, adding insult to injury, hit .143 at Triple-A Oklahoma. But that didn’t sit well and he came roaring back to life in the playoffs, hitting three home runs in the World Series (including one to left field which he hadn’t done since July). What this means for fantasy owners is that Pederson still has gas in the tank. The once-fearsome slugger only turns 26 in May and it appears that his time in the minors helped him cut down his K-rate. Pederson makes a sneaky sleeper pick for a fifth OF spot but will likely not see regular playing time. He’ll be in competition in spring training against top prospect Alex Verdugo, a healthy Andrew Toles and an aging Matt Kemp. If he continues to show the pop he did in the playoffs, though, he’ll see at-bats.
