Jhoan Duran Touches Triple Digits At Triple-A
4 years agoMinnesota Twins pitching prospect Jhoan Duran's second start of the season was an excellent one. Delayed by a trapezius strain at the beginning of the season, he looked healthy on Thursday and struck out eight batters over four innings of one-hit baseball. He did struggle to throw strikes at times but he ultimately walked just two batters and hit one. Duran showed excellent variations in speeds with his offerings and fluctuated from the low 80s to as high as 100 mph. He now has 14 strikeouts over seven innings so far this season while sticking to a tight pitch count. If the 23-year-old hurler can show enough polish with his secondary offerings (and stay healthy), he could be a valuable weapon for the Twins in the second half of the season.
