MLB.com's Francys Romero reports that free-agent right-hander Jeurys Familia is working out with the intention of making a comeback to MLB. The 12-year-old Dominican veteran is currently training under Puerto Rican Hector Berrios, who also works with Boston Red Sox left-handed reliever Aroldis Chapman. Familia, who will turn 36 years of age this October, didn't pitch in the big leagues in 2024 and was released by the Oakland Athletics in May of 2023 after he had a 6.39 ERA and 2.05 WHIP in 12 2/3 relief innings. He made his major-league debut all the way back in 2012 with the New York Mets and does have 127 career saves and an All-Star appearance (2016), but he'll be a long shot to make an impact on a big-league roster again. Familia gave up six runs with 11 K's and five walks in 17 1/3 innings in Mexico and the Dominican last year.--Keith Hernandez
