Jesus Aguilar 2021 Outlook: Playing Time Leads To Power Time
Jesus Aguilar had a strong comeback season in the abbreviated 2020 season and should be in line for similar success in 2021. In the shortened season, Aguilar slashed .277/.352/.457 with eight home runs, 34 RBI, and 31 runs scored. The only issue with projecting Aguilar's 2021 is the amount of playing time he will receive. He and Garrett Cooper split time between first base and designated hitter in 2020. If the designated hitter is not part of National League baseball in 2021, Cooper and Aguilar would likely be forced to split time, severely limiting the upside and the counting stats of both hitters. Aguilar is a solid lineup filler who should be rostered in all formats if the National League continues to utilize the DH in the 2021 season.
