Jeff Wilson Jr. 2024 Outlook: Roster Bubble RB Lacks Fantasy Appeal
7 months agoMiami Dolphins running back Jeff Wilson Jr. could find himself on the roster bubble heading into the 2024 season. Therefore, barring a strong training camp or Wilson joining a team with a much friendlier backfield situation, the veteran is not on the fantasy football radar. Wilson was healthy for 10 of 17 games last season but never made a start. He routinely operated behind Raheem Mostert and De'Von Achane, finishing his age-28 season with 188 rushing yards, 85 receiving yards, and zero touchdowns. Between getting older and having limited production in a depth role, all signs point to Wilson being a non-factor or even being cut in 2024. It also doesn't help that the Dolphins would create more than $1.2 million in cap space by releasing him; this number could incentivize them to release him and keep a younger, cheaper running back on the roster instead. Ultimately, as it currently stands, Wilson is likely the No. 5 back behind Mostert, Achane, Jaylen Wright, and Salvon Ahmed. Even if Wilson surprises everyone with a great camp and does make the roster, he'll still be nothing more than a No. 3 running back. That role is not large enough to lead to fantasy relevance, so he'll remain off the radar heading into 2024.
