Jameis Winston 2022 Outlook - Some Upside With New Additions To The Offense
3 years agoJameis Winston got handed the keys as the starter in New Orleans during the 2021 season, however, was only able to play seven games before tearing his ACL which ended his season. Winston was armed with one of the worst receiving cores in the NFL last season but was still able to throw for 14 touchdowns in his seven starts. Five of which came in a dominant Week 1 performance against the Green Bay Packers. The former Tampa Bay Buccaneer is notorious for his astronomical 30-interception season in 2019, but the 28-year-old finished with an encouraging three interceptions in his seven starts in 2021. Heading into 2022, Winston should be fully healthy and supported by a much-improved receiving core with the return of former All-Pro Michael Thomas, rookie stud Chris Olave, and veteran Jarvis Landry. With this group of wide receivers and a great pass-catching running back in Alvin Kamara, Winston should likely see an increase in his 23 passing attempts per game and career-low 167 passing yards per game from 2021. All things considered, the former first-overall pick is a solid late-round QB2 target with the upside to sneak into QB1 territory.
