For most of Friday’s game between the Philadelphia Phillies and the New York Mets, the home team was sitting pretty, riding the right shoulder of a former NL Cy Young Award winner. Jake Arrieta had his longest start of the season, going 7 1/3 innings while allowing zero runs, five hits, and two walks. He struck out five, tossing 101 pitches during the outing, which he left with a one-run lead intact. While the Phillies would lose the game, Arrieta lowered his ERA to 2.59 on the season, maintaining his 3-1 season. The 32-year-old’s next start is scheduled for Thursday against the St. Louis Cardinals.--RDelgadoRead More News
