6 months agoAtlanta Falcons rookie running back Ito Smith (knee) will have knee surgery and will be placed on Injured Reserve, according to head coach Dan Quinn. With Smith out, Quinn said it's also "unlikely" that Devonta Freeman will return this year, which means it'll mostly be Tevin Coleman's backfield in the final two games. Smith was a fourth-round pick this year and rushed 90 times for 315 yards and four touchdowns while also catching 27 passes for 152 yards. Coleman has mostly disappointed with Freeman hurt for most of the year, although he did compile 145 yards on the ground and a touchdown in Week 15. He'll have some RB2 upside, albeit in a tough matchup with Carolina in Week 16. Brian Hill should back up Coleman the rest of the way.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
