Gunnar Henderson 2024 Player Outlook: AL ROY Rockets Up Draft Boards
12 months agoBaltimore Orioles third baseman/shortstop Gunnar Henderson (oblique) showed why he was one of fantasy's top prospects in 2023. The American League Rookie of the Year slashed .255/.325/.489 with 28 home runs, 100 runs scored, 82 RBI, and 10 stolen bases. The 22-year-old struggled mightily to start the season, slashing .201/.332/.370 through May but improved to a .276/.322/.534 slash line the rest of the way. He also struggled against left-handed pitching but still managed strong overall numbers. His counting stats should also remain strong while hitting in the middle of an excellent O's lineup. Henderson is currently being eased into spring training with left oblique soreness, and while it does not sound too serious, fantasy managers should pay attention to his progress as the season approaches. He is currently being drafted at pick 30 overall, making him the fifth 3B and sixth SS off the board. Other hitters are going after Henderson who offer similar profiles at a slightly cheaper price. His slow start to spring training could merit a slight bump down, but Henderson's current ADP does not seem like an overpay, given how he performed last year in just his rookie season.
