Greg Bird Hits First Triple Of Season
7 years agoPlaying in his fifth game of the season after debuting following time missed with an ankle injury and surgery, New York Yankees first baseman Greg Bird recorded another offensive milestone. Taking on the Baltimore Orioles Friday night, the 25-year-old recorded only one hit in five plate appearances, but it came at an important moment. With a runner on and the score tied in the fifth, he drilled a triple to deep center, causing Baltimore outfielder Adam Jones to crash into the wall. Brett Gardner would come around to score in what was Bird’s first triple of the season. The hit put the Yankees up for good, as they would win the game, 4-1.
