Giancarlo Stanton Dealing With "High Level Of Pain"
4 weeks agoAccording to Bryan Hoch of MLB.com, New York Yankee designated hitter Giancarlo Stanton (elbow) is dealing with a "high level of pain" in both of his elbows. Hoch noted that the slugger has not swung a bat in three-to-four weeks and is "unsure" if he will be ready for Opening Day. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor Stanton's status throughout spring training, as another setback could keep him sidelined during the start of the season. If Stanton were to miss time at the start of the season, the Yankees would likely move several players to the DH spot. Last season, the 35-year-old posted a .233/.298/.475 line with 27 home runs. He generated an elite .509 xSLG with a 20.7 percent barrel rate. Even if Stanton misses time early in the campaign, he is still worth a look later in drafts as he will still carry high power upside when he is in the lineup.
