German Marquez Shuts Out Pittsburgh
6 years agoColorado Rockies starting pitcher German Marquez returned to form on Tuesday as he absolutely baffled the Pirates. Marquez threw eight shutout innings in Pittsburgh, striking out seven and allowing just three hits. He even chipped in an RBI single to help his cause as he cruised to a 5-0 victory. It was Marquez's fifth win of the season, and it was his first quality start in nearly a month. Though some of his recent outings have been relative clunkers, Marquez is still sitting at a 3.38 ERA with a 3.10 xFIP while striking out a batter per inning and walking just 1.63/9. He'll welcome a terrible Baltimore squad to Denver next week, and he should be considered a must-start.
