German Marquez Facing A Tough Start
5 years agoColorado Rockies starting pitcher German Marquez certainly hasn't been the second-half wonder that he was last season, but he's still a sensation when he's on the road. He'll face a tough test on Thursday when he has to go up against the St. Louis Cardinals. Unfortunately, it's one of those starts that will ride the line of success or disaster. Marquez is substantially better on the road this season, carrying an ERA that is more than 2.70 points lower than at home, but he's facing a good team. The good news is that in four road starts since the All-Star Break, Marquez has three quality starts, with his only stinker coming against the mighty Astros. Since he's nowhere near as dominant as he was last year, there's always a chance of a blowup, but he's a strong candidate to pitch a good game.
