George Springer Asking For $175 Million?
4 years agoFree-agent outfielder George Springer is believed to be seeking around $175 million on the free-agent market. The Toronto Blue Jays offer is well below $150 million, and it would be shocking if the New York Mets gave Springer the $175 million he desires, especially after just trading for shortstop Francisco Lindor and starting pitcher Carlos Carrasco. Springer might have to move to right field as his primary position within a couple of seasons, too, which would create a dilemma for New York and current right fielder Michael Conforto. Unless Springer's asking price comes down, he might not be signing with a team anytime soon, with the Blue Jays and Mets as his primary suitors this offseason. Wherever he lands, the 31-year-old will be a spark plug with power and speed at the top of a lineup.
