George Lombard Jr. Homers in Second Straight Game
George Lombard Jr. hit a two-run home run in a 1-for-4 day at the plate on Sunday. It was the second consecutive game with a home run for the Yanks' top-ranked prospect, with four of his five home runs coming at Double-A Somerset. The former first-round draft pick was promoted earlier this year after slashing .329/.495/.488 in 24 games at High-A, but is hitting just .208 at the next level. With a strong 13.1 percent walk rate, the 20-year-old has still been able to register a decent .328 OBP, which has helped him use his speed, swiping 14 bases for the Patriots and 25 total on the year. At this rate, he'll finish out the year at Double-A, but should see time at Triple-A next year and potentially push for an MLB debut sometime later next season.
