Boston Red Sox starting pitcher Garrett Crochet allowed five hits and four earned runs over five innings in Thursday's 4-3 loss to the Seattle Mariners. The left-handed hurler struck out nine batters and walked five while falling to 2-2 on the season. All the damage against Crochet came in the first two innings, where the Mariners would push four runs across on a double, a sac fly, and a groundout, though he'd settle in after. The 25-year-old was a little wild in this one, but still threw 65 of his 110 pitches for strikes. Despite nearly doubling his walk percentage from 2024 (10.1%), he's been superb -- compiling a tidy 1.95 ERA and 1.05 WHIP across 37 innings pitched. Crochet's strikeout rate is also down a bit, but he's letting up hard contact less often and allowing batters an xBA of .214 against him. He'll square off against the Toronto Blue Jays next week.--Alex Ciulla
