MLB.com's Bryan Hoch reports that New York Yankees outfielder Everson Pereira (elbow) will be limited to designated-hitter duties until mid-March as he continues his rehab from an internal-brace procedure on his right elbow last June. However, manager Aaron Boone said he could see Pereira "very much in the mix" for a roster spot out of spring training. The Yankees are slow-playing the 23-year-old at spring training, but it doesn't mean that he won't be on the Opening Day roster if he performs well in Grapefruit League action. The Venezuelan outfielder didn't play in the majors at all last year and went 14-for-93 (.151) with no homers, 10 RBI, four steals and 40 strikeouts in 103 plate appearances in 27 games in his MLB debut late in 2023. Before getting injured in 2024, Pereira's strikeout rate in the minors was headed in the wrong direction. For now, he's just one to monitor in most fantasy leagues.--Keith Hernandez
