Evan Carter to go on Rehab Assignment This Weekend
Evan Carter (quadriceps) did some sprinting on Wednesday, in addition to other baseball activities he has been doing this week, according to MLB.com. Carter is scheduled to start a minor-league rehab assignment this weekend as he recovers from a Grade 2 strained right quadriceps that landed him on the 10-day injured list on May 18. The 22-year-old left-handed hitter impressed after a late-season call-up in 2023 on his way to helping the Rangers win the World Series that fall, but he played in just 45 games due to a back injury in 2024 and started this year in the minors. In 11 games before going back on the IL, Carter went 6-for-33 (.182) with a homer, three RBI and three steals for Texas. He should at least see regular at-bats against righties when he returns from his injury. In the meantime, Alejandro Osuna and Sam Haggerty should continue splitting time in the outfield.
