New York Mets right-hander Edwin Diaz secured a 5-4 win over the Philadelphia Phillies on Monday. Diaz pitched one inning while allowing one run and striking out two to pick up his sixth save of the season. It was a rocky inning for Diaz and the Mets as he allowed a three-run homer to Bryson Stott, with two of the runs being charged to reliever Max Kranick. Diaz now has a 1-0 record, 5.59 ERA, 1.34 WHIP, and 15 strikeouts over 9 2/3 innings of work on the season. He remains perfect in six save chances, despite the ugly ERA. That being said, the longtime Mets closer has a firm grip on the closer role in the Big Apple.--Matt Terelle
