Tampa Bay Rays outfielder Denard Span continued to be an unexpected source of run production Thursday versus the Angels. He hit the eventual game-winner with his two-run home run that put the Rays up 3-0. It was his fourth of the season. The unexpected part is that he is now tied for the team lead in RBI with 27. Span is on pace to drive in 104, which would not only shatter his career high but would be only his second season ever over 60 RBI. In other words, a regression is fairly likely. Span is coming off a 2017 season where he batted .272 with 12 home runs and 12 steals. As long as he gets to 450 plate appearances, he should serve as a steady and safe fourth or fifth outfielder in a 12-team mixed league.--Jamie Mellor
