Darius Slayton 2023 Outlook: Could Be Odd Man Out On Offense
2 years agoNew York Giants wide receiver Darius Slayton was a surprise fantasy pickup in the middle of last season in 12-plus team leagues. He benefited from injuries to Sterling Shepard, Wan'Dale Robinson, and Kadarius Toney. Slayton went on to have seven double-digit fantasy performances and finished the year with 46 catches for 724 yards and two touchdowns. The 26-year-old veteran could find fewer opportunities in the Giants' offense in 2023. Robinson is expected to be ready for Week 1 after tearing his ACL last season, and Shepard is back on the team on a one-year deal. The Giants also added Parris Campbell, Jamison Crowder, and rookie Jalin Hyatt to the wide receiver group this offseason. Slayton's ability to stretch the field could help him get more reps in 2023 after averaging 15-plus yards per catch in three of his four NFL seasons. However, there are a lot of mouths to feed in New York's run-first offense. Slayton is ranked 191st overall on RotoBaller and is mainly an option in deep-league formats.
