Darius Leonard 2020 Outlook: Fully Worthy of the No. 1 IDP Selection
5 years agoDarius Leonard did not quite match the IDP production of his marvelous rookie season last year, but still played at an elite level in 2019. He missed three games with concussion-like symptoms that dropped his tackle totals by 42, but he still totaled over 120 tackles for the second consecutive season. He also overcame an offseason ankle injury to deliver an impressive campaign in Year Two. Leonard registered seven outings with double figure tackle totals. He is a top Fantasy IDP selection because he fills up the defensive stat sheet in so many ways. Leonard has totaled 12 sacks and seven interceptions in his first two pro campaigns. Last season he was even more opportunistic vs. the pass, with five interceptions to top all linebackers. Only three other players had more pickoffs than Leonard and he was tied for the second highest total in the NFL. Leonard is the consensus No. 1 ranked IDP pick for this season and should certainly approach his rookie tackle numbers again if he can play a full schedule this season. The addition of DeForest Buckner to the interior of the defensive line can only ensure more statistical success. Leonard pairs with Anthony Walker to give Indianapolis one of the most active LB duos in the league and they should both be prime forces again. Take Leonard with confidence as the first IDP selection off the board.
