Colton Cowser 2024 Fantasy Baseball Outlook: A Shining Prospect Blocked, Hot Spring Could Force His Way Onto Opening Day Roster
9 months agoBaltimore Orioles outfielder and #3 prospect Colton Cowser will have a challenging path to consistent playing time in 2024. After being called up in mid-July of 2023, he struggled to a .115/.286/.148 slash line in 26 games. The 23-year-old has always shown tremendous plate discipline and hitting skills, as he has never had a walk rate below 10% in any season in the minors. With the likes of Cedric Mullins, Austin Hays, Anthony Santander, and Heston Kjerstad all taking up spots on the roster, we might have to wait to see Cowser's potential in full unless a spot opens up due to injury on a competitive Orioles team. Cowser does have a lot of upside and is worth drafting in dynasty leagues. He's worth a stash or to be left on the waiver wire for all other leagues until an opportunity or if he earns a spot in spring training. ATC projects Cowser to slash .233/.329/.359 with six home runs, 26 RBI, 32 runs, and four stolen bases over 259 plate appearances. He has had a hot spring, hitting .351 with five homers and 10 RBI over 14 games. If Cowser makes the Opening Day roster, he could easily surpass his projections, making him an incredible value at his current 435 ADP.
