Chris Godwin 2023 Outlook: Could Remain Top-24 Wideout Despite QB Downgrade
1 year agoTampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Chris Godwin has posted at least 1,023 receiving yards in three of his last four seasons, but he's being discounted in fantasy football thanks to the Bucs' QB change from Tom Brady to Baker Mayfield or Kyle Trask. However, he could become a volume in drafts, much like DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett did last season after the Seahawks switched from Russell Wilson to Geno Smith. Godwin is a slot receiver who operates in the shallow and intermediate parts of the field, where Mayfield thrives. That said, there should be plenty of PPR value for him in 2023. The Buccaneers were the eighth-worst scoring offense last season, and Godwin still posted a WR19 campaign. There's plenty of risk for Tampa Bay's pass-catchers this season, but given Godwin's track record of excellence, it's a smart idea to draft him if he falls too far in fantasy leagues.
