Chris Evans 2023 NFL Player Outlook: Underdog To Win RB2 Job For Bengals
2 years agoCincinnati Bengals running back Chris Evans didn't log a rushing attempt last season and caught just three passes for 38 yards and a touchdown. He was stuck behind Joe Mixon, Samaje Perine, and Trayveon Williams on the Bengals' depth chart and was used sparingly as a kick returner. Perine signed with the Denver Broncos this offseason, but the Bengals drafted Illinois running back Chase Brown in the fifth round of the 2023 NFL Draft. That said, Evans has an uphill battle to earn a role in the Joe Burrow-led offense. In fact, there's a chance he won't even make the 53-man roster. Unless Evans emerges as the obvious primary backup to Mixon, he won't carry any value -- even in the deepest of leagues. If he does win the RB2 job, he'll be a premier handcuff running back in one of the league's best offenses.
