New York Yankees right-handed pitching prospect Chase Hampton (elbow, forearm) is dealing with a flexor strain and "something going on with his UCL," manager Aaron Boone said. Hampton is back in New York now to get looked at, and depending on what doctors find, the 23-year-old could need to go under the knife. Any kind of surgery on his flexor tendon or UCL would likely mean that Hampton would be out for all of the 2025 season and even possibly the start of 2026. Hampton, a sixth-round selection in 2022 out of Texas Tech University, was only able to make seven starts at three minor-league levels in 2024 due to elbow issues, so his elbow flaring up again early in spring training is an ominous sign. In addition to an elbow injury last year, Hampton also missed time with shoulder and groin ailments.--Keith Hernandez
