Boston Bruins defenseman Charlie McAvoy (shoulder) will make his season debut on Thursday against Calgary. He was set to miss six months after having shoulder surgery on June 3, but McAvoy is ready for action multiple weeks ahead of schedule, and he won't have any restrictions either. "We're very fortunate with the D-corps we have that we don't need him to play 24 minutes," Bruins head coach Jim Montgomery said Thursday morning. "But I expect him to play 20." McAvoy had a big year with 56 points in 78 outings last term, and the 24-year-old should take another step forward in his development in 2022-23.
