Cam Akers Finishes Season On Three-Game 100-Yard Streak
2 years agoLos Angeles Rams running back Cam Akers rushed for 104 yards on 21 carries, his third-straight 100-yard game, in a 16-19 overtime loss to the Seattle Seahawks. He added three catches for 24 yards. The 23-year-old had a roller-coaster season. Early on, he received limited work, splitting carries with Darrell Henderson Jr. He was kept away from the team from Weeks 6 through 8 because of a conflict with coaches. But after he rejoined the Rams, Henderson was released, and Akers ended the season on a tear. He started the final seven games and gained 549 yards, averaging 4.9 per carry, and scored six touchdowns. While the third-year back showed flashes of brilliance, his future role remains uncertain because so much about the Rams remains uncertain. Sean McVay may not return as Rams coach, and the Rams might pursue a running back in free agency.
