Byron Buxton Looking To Put Together Full Season Worth Of Production
7 years agoMinnesota Twins outfielder Byron Buxton has been a well-regarded prospect for over three seasons now, but he has yet to put together an entire season's worth of consistent production. Buxton got off to a painfully slow start in 2017, batting just .216 with five homers through the All-Star Break. He caught fire in August and September, however, slashing .298/.342/.541 with 11 homers and 13 steals. He finished the 2017 campaign with a .253/.314/.413 slash line, 16 homers, 69 runs, 51 RBI, and 29 stolen bases. Buxton struck out at a 29.4% rate in 2017, down from 35.6% in 2016, but still high. If he doesn't cut down on his strikeouts, the career .237 hitter will continue to be a detriment in the batting average category in fantasy leagues. As it stands, he is a solid power/speed threat who may struggle to live up to his draft spot in fantasy drafts if he doesn't improve his contact skills.
