Budda Baker accomplished a rare feat in 2019, becoming one of the few DBs to lead the NFL in solo tackles (104). Baker followed that up with an impressive ninth-place finish in that category the following year. Unfortunately, injuries cost Baker 7 games over the next two seasons, during which he finished 32nd and 90th in solo tackles, respectively. The Washington alum's solo tackle per game rate dropped 23% during that span. We mention all of this because solo tackles and total tackles are extremely important for Baker's fantasy value. When he doesn't finish amongst the league leaders in solo and total tackles, his fantasy value averages out to DB30 overall. When he does finish amongst the NFL tackle leaders, then his ceiling is DB1 overall, which was his finish year. Unfortunately, Baker's fantasy floor depends so greatly on tackles because he averages fewer than two forced turnovers per year, and he averages a measly 1.18 sacks per season. In other words, Baker is a top-five fantasy DB when he's healthy and leading the position in tackles by a wide margin, but he doesn't have the big-play numbers to compensate when his tackle numbers are off or a nagging injury limits his snaps.--Chris Gregory - RotoBallerRead More News
