Buccaneers Release Donovan Smith
2 years agoThe Tampa Bay Buccaneers officially released left tackle Donovan Smith on Tuesday, according to a source. Cutting Smith saves the Bucs $9.95 million against the 2023 salary cap. It's a move that doesn't come as much of a surprise as the team looks to get under the 2023 salary cap following the retirement of future Hall of Fame quarterback Tom Brady. The 29-year-old Smith, who was a former second-round pick, spent the last eight seasons with Tampa as their left tackle, but he'll be continuing his career elsewhere after playing in a career-low 13 games due to injury in 2022.
