The Houston Astros have placed relief pitcher Bryan Abreu on the paternity list. As a result, AJ Blubaugh will take his spot on the roster. Through the early part of the campaign, Abreu has been deployed in his typical setup role in front of the ninth-inning option, Josh Hader. Across 13 innings of work, Abreu has held a strong 2.08 ERA with a 1.46 WHIP. Abreu has tallied nine holds and struck out 18 batters. Under the hood, he generated an elite 2.9 percent barrel rate while generating whiffs at a strong 34.0 percent rate. While he is sidelined for the time being, Taylor Scott, Bryan King, or Kaleb Ort should see time in the eighth inning. When he is cleared to return, Abreu will remain a top option in leagues that reward holds, given his high strikeout potential.--Andy Smith
