Brett Baty's Stock On The Rise At High-A
4 years agoNew York Mets prospect Brett Baty raised his batting average to .343 with a 3-for-4 game on Wednesday. The 21-year-old third baseman also slugged his first home run of the season. The lack of power has been a surprise for the former first-round pick as he entered pro ball with a reputation for having impressive raw strength and he also hit seven home runs in his 51-game pro debut in 2019. Still, Baty is showing a much improved hitting approach despite the lost season in 2020 and he has a 16% walk rate. That has helped him produce a .451 OBP through 19 games. The power stroke will come and fantasy managers should be encouraged by his strong showing so far this season. Baty has dynasty league intriguing and could be redraft league relevant as soon as 2022.
