Chicago Blackhawks defenseman Brent Seabrook has announced that he is retiring from the NHL due to injuries. The 15-year veteran has tried desperately to get back to game shape but simply isn't able to do it. "After several surgeries, countless hours of rehab and training to get back on the ice at the level of my expectations, it will not be possible for me to continue playing hockey," Seabrook said. The three-time Stanley Cup champion is still contracted with the Blackhawks until the end of 2023-24, so he has been placed on Long-Term Injured Reserve. Seabrook, who spent his whole career in Chicago, last played in the NHL in December 2019. The team announced that forwards Andrew Shaw and Zack Smith have also been placed on Long-Term Injured Reserve.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBaller
