Braves Bring Back Marcell Ozuna For Four Years
4 years agoThe Atlanta Braves are finalizing a four-year, $65 million deal to re-sign outfielder Marcell Ozuna on Friday, according to sources familiar with the agreement. The deal includes a fifth-year option worth $16 million ($1 million buyout) that would take the value of the deal to $80 million. The 30-year-old finished sixth in the National League MVP voting in 2020 and nearly won the Triple Crown when he slashed .338/.431/.636 with an NL-leading 18 home runs and 56 RBI. He was the first Braves hitter to lead the league in homers and/or RBI in 15 years. Ozuna will have to play left field on a regular basis in 2021 with no designated hitter expected in the NL, but there's a good chance the universal DH could be back in play as soon as 2022. Fantasy managers shouldn't be expecting a repeat of 2020 over a full season, but the right-handed slugger returns to the middle of a stacked lineup and should be considered a fringe top-15 fantasy outfielder.
