According to Keegan Matheson of MLB.com, the Toronto Blue Jays are inviting catcher Matt Whatley to spring training as a non-roster invite. Whatley was drafted by the Texas Rangers in the third round of the 2017 MLB Draft but has yet to reach the major leagues. Last season, Whatley held a .199/.294/.319 line with two doubles and five home runs across 50 games with Triple-A Round Rock. This was similar production compared to the .203/.289/.322 line he held across 70 contests at Triple-A Round Rock during the 2023 campaign. The Oral Roberts product posted a .211/.301/.295 line across 107 games at the Double-A level. Given his lack of recent success, Whatley will likely spend the majority of the 2025 season in the minor leagues.--Andy Smith
