Baker Mayfield Promoted To Second-String Offense
7 years agoCleveland Browns rookie Baker Mayfield was promoted to second-team quarterback in the third and final week of organized team activities. Mayfield, the No. 1 overall pick in April's NFL draft, opened OTAs as the team's third-stringer behind starter Tyrod Taylor and former Arizona Cardinal Drew Stanton. By Tuesday, Mayfield had moved ahead of Stanton and was operating as the team's backup quarterback. Mayfield struggled at the onset of OTAs but has steadily improved as he's gotten more experience. Cleveland continues to insist that Taylor will be the starter for all of 2018 but there's a good chance Mayfield makes some starts during his rookie campaign.
