Baker Mayfield 2019 Outlook - Cleveland's Next Savior?
6 years agoThe top rookie quarterback from the 2018 class did not take long before being named the starting QB for the Browns. Baker Mayfield finished the season with seven games as a QB1 in weekly scoring, with most of those coming once the team allowed Freddie Kitchens to call plays. Heading into 2019, now with Kitchens as HC and a slew of offensive weapons around him (Odell Beckham Jr., Jarvis Landry, and Antonio Callaway) Mayfield is flying up draft boards. His mid-summer ADP is 60th overall, making him the fifth QB selected in most drafts.
With an expectedly tough schedule for the position (24th in points allowed to QBs) and an improving defense, Mayfield could potentially disappoint some owners that are willing to pull the trigger early in drafts. But by season's end, he will undoubtedly be among the league's best at the position in fantasy scoring. Look for his name to be among a few QBs that come off the board in the fifth or sixth round.
