7 years agoStarting the first game in a doubleheader Monday afternoon, New York Yankees backup catcher Austin Romine recorded just one hit, but it would prove to be a decisive blow. The 29-year-old extended his hitting streak to 11 games in a row with a three-run home run to center, putting the finishing touches on a six-run fourth inning for the Yankees. It would ultimately be the deciding hit of the game, as the club emerged victorious by just three runs. Romine has been sensational as Gary Sanchez’s backup catcher, now hitting .373 with four home runs and 19 RBI.
