Austin Riley Won't Come Off Injured List on Tuesday
Austin Riley (abdomen) will not come off the injured list on Tuesday. MLB.com's Mark Bowman writes that the Braves might wait to activate Riley before their series opener on Friday against the Texas Rangers on the road. The Braves are well out of playoff contention early in the second half of the season and don't feel the need to rush the 28-year-old right-handed slugger back from his abdominal strain. It means that Nacho Alvarez Jr. should make another couple starts at the hot corner this week for the remainder of the series against the San Francisco Giants. When Riley returns, though, he'll settle back into an everyday role at the hot corner. Riley should be rostered in all fantasy leagues and will return to a .274/.324/.441 slash line with 14 homers, 48 RBI and 51 runs scored. UPDATE: Manager Brian Snitker said Riley still had a shade of discomfort on Tuesday, so the Braves have decided to wait a few days to activate him. MLB.com's Mark Bowman reports Riley will likely play on Friday against the Rangers.
