The Denver Post's Patrick Saunders reports that Colorado Rockies left-hander Austin Gomber (shoulder) will open the 2025 regular season on the injured list as he recovers from left-shoulder soreness that he dealt with in spring training. The good news, though, is that Gomber is expected to rejoin the starting rotation early in the season. The 31-year-old veteran southpaw's only Grapefruit League appearance came way back on Feb. 25. Until he returns, the Rockies will roll with a four-man rotation consisting of Kyle Freeland, Ryan Feltner, German Marquez and Antonio Senzatela. When healthy, Gomber is merely a deep-league option, primarily when he's on the road. There's just not much fantasy upside for a pitcher with limited strikeout potential that has trouble keeping the ball out of the air.--Keith Hernandez
